Pompeii, Positano and Sorrento, Italy

Last week I flew to Naples airport and travelled to Sorrento in the south of Italy.
Sorrento is a small town that although has lots of tourists it also has a large amount of locals.
When I went out for meals or just generally out into the main town of Sorrento there was a very Italian style and it wasn't trying to adapt itself for tourists too much, however everyone was happy to help me and the restaurant menus and maps etc had a variety of languages.

One of the many advantages of staying in Sorrento is that it is merely a half hour trip on the train away from Pompeii. I know that my family desperately wanted to go there as soon as we found out how close and easy to get to it was...and when I say easy, well, the train station was right outside the Pompeii entrance. You can't get much easier!

When my family arrived in the entrance of Pompeii we immediately looked for the official guides of Pompeii, as some friends who had been previously had told us how useful it was.
'Was it useful?' Yes.
'Why?' Well, Pompeii is a town, much like everywhere, it is buildings with stories that you don't know unless someone tells you them, which means that without having the stories or the information or even the guide around the town, it is merely roads and stones.
I recommend the guide, they told us about what places used to be and why people did certain things and it was like a very interesting history lesson coming to life!
I really enjoyed visiting Pompeii, it was really different to anything I've seen before and I found everything really interesting.

The picture above features Vesuvius. One of the best things about Pompeii was the amazing views and picture opportunities. I can't tell you how many pictures I took, they are almost infinite.

Another massive advantage is that Sorrento is an hour coach ride, of the Amalfi coast, away from the beautiful town of Positano.
Positano is a town that is built up a hillside with many different coloured houses. It is a picture-perfect town that is perfect for a nice day out by the sea. Additionally, Positano has featured in many films, in the past, which just shows the absolute beauty of the town.

Sorrento...

If you're looking for a place to go on holiday or to stay on your travels, I think Sorrento is the place.
